What's so interesting to me about this is that Neil only brings up the fact that he has this INSANE skill because he's trying to figure out why Andrew would know a backliner's exact height. Because Andrew doesn't need to know that, but Neil and Kevin do, but Neil isn't bragging. Neil's a fantastic player who's "leaps and bounds better" than when he started according to Wymack, but he DOESN'T BRAG, even when he kinda deserves to. He only brings it up because it's relevant information to Andrew CARING. Because Andrew cares. If he didn't he wouldn't mention his height.

New coach Wymack Headcanon just dropped. His tribal tattoos are coverup tattoos. Hear me out,

In Tfc the first time Neil is on the foxes court Andrew tells him about how with the showers “Showers aren’t communal here. Coach put in the stalls when he built the stadium. The board wouldn’t pay for it- they didn’t see the point- so it came out of Coach’s own pocket.” (The Foxhole Court, p.48)

Then later, when Neil sees the showers Andrew says “Weird right? Coach never explained it.” (The Foxhole Court, p.50)

Wymack built the showers to have full privacy with his own money when the court was first built. It was his own decision and it implies he didn’t do it with outsider direction/opinion since it was prior to the foxes having an actual team. He also did it without comment or explanation. He did it for the people who would just get it, and understand what it’s for.

To me this means he had to have a good reason to go out of his way. He wouldn’t have done it using money of his own (this would’ve been really fucking expensive), without being asked unless he ‘got it’. We know he must’ve had a rough childhood because of his insistence and dedication to giving troubled kids more chances. It’s implied throughout the series.

He’s giving the foxes what he wished someone did for him, and that includes the private showers. It could be because he had to hide bruises, wounds, or various other reasons. Which is where the headcanon comes in.

He’s got tattoos, it’s the first thing Neil notices about him, so we know they’re prominent to his character. “The wife beater the man wore showed off sleeves of tribal flame tattoos” (The Foxhole Court, p.3)

My HC is that his full tattoo sleeves are actually cover up tattoos. For whatever reason he had a bunch of scars on his arms and he got them covered. I think it adds a really interesting detail to his character and fits perfect with his motivations. Like I’m sure this might already be a popular headcanon? Idk I’ve just gotten into this fandom.
